“I hate you, Seth Cage,” she proclaims in what I know to be an out-of-character emotional outburst that tells me I’ve rattled her.
And earns her my cool reply. “There’s a fine line between love and hate, sweetheart,” I say, but I don’t want her to hate me and it pisses me off. What is it about this woman that makes her my weakness? “I wonder if I missed the taste of poison on your lips, or did I just choose to ignore it?” And I need to know that answer. I close my mouth down on hers, my tongue sliding into her mouth, rough, angry, but she doesn’t respond. She doesn’t even touch me, and I won’t allow her that win. I fold her against me, cupping the back of her head, my tongue licking against hers until she finally fucking moans, and responds.
And damn it, she still tastes just as good as she did, just as right when she’s wrong, but at least I know now. Everything right about this woman will always be wrong, including the moment she bites my lips, drawing blood. “I still hate you,” she hisses.
Wiping my lip, I’m wildly aroused by what just happened, which proves how fucked in the head this woman makes me. And while I’m certain we’d both be more than comfortable with the idea of me pulling her skirt up and fucking her right now, and letting her think she’s manipulating me again, that has to wait until I have her someplace to myself. I release her, snatching up her gun and shoving it under my jacket, inside my holster. “Meet me at the south exit. If you aren’t there, I’ll kill you and then move on to Plan B and kill Franklin. And yes. This is a test. Pass it or you’ll be in my bed, in handcuffs for the rest of your life.”
“You said you’d kill me.”
“After I cuff you to my bed.”
I move to the door and exit into the staff hallway, and then the main school hallway, the scent of her, sweet jasmine, clinging to my skin. Damn it, I used to love that smell.
I’m halfway to the exit when suddenly she’s beside me. “As I know you know from whatever file they gave you on me,” she says without looking at me, “I watched people die because of that man in China seven years ago when he set off poison gas in the subway. I’m not sitting back while he does it again.”
I don’t reply. I just keep walking, but now she’s by my side again, as she was for three solid months, three years ago. Her words and actions are reminding me of what I’d found so damn appealing about this woman: her conviction and her moral compass that were greater than mine, that made her too good for me, and yet, made me want her all the more. Only, it was an act, a façade maintained even now and well. She’s an enemy in an uncomfortable alliance. I don’t believe a word she has said.
We reach the exit and I pause with her directly to my right, my eyes capturing hers. “You’re with me now and no one gets to take you from me. And I’m the only one who gets to kill you.”
“You’re so damn romantic,” she says. “No wonder I missed you.”
“You missed me, sweetheart?”
“That wasn’t literal.”
My lips curve. “And yet you kissed me like you missed me.”

Jones is the First book in the series called "Poison Kisses". This is
the story of Amanda Skye and Seth Cage. Their story plays out
over three parts which translates to 3 books. Seth was a part of the
previous series 'Dirty Money" and now we are getting his story. You
don’t have to have read the previous series to get into Seth’s story. Seth used
to be CIA before he started working for himself but you know, you never really
leave the agency. And now he's being asked to shadow and possibly kill
an ex agent. The ex lover—HIS Ex Lover. The only woman he ever truly loved.
Amanda is one of only 4
scientists who know about the dangerous poison this crazy killer is trying to
kill lots of people with. The other 3 scientists that she was working
with are dead already which is why the CIA thinks she is the killer or is
working with the killer. But they have it all wrong. Amanda doesn’t know who is
setting her up for a murder rap…she isn’t involved in anyway. Just like both
she and Seth were set up 3 years before -- Both thinking the other
was baddie.
They each believe the other
has betrayed each other and now they are forced to work together once again yet
there is the added complication that Seth has been told to kill Amanda when
they complete the mission. There is a lot of angst, suspense, intrigue, drama,
romance, tension-- between them during the story. We get flashbacks that
shows the readers what happened previously between Seth and Amanda in the past
and it was done so smoothly that it didn’t feel put upon in the story but more
of an added necessity to the story. This
is a lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers troupe type story. Poison Kisses: Part 1 is the
perfect novella for anyone who is looking for a quick and action-filled Romance
read. I look forward to book 2 and seeing what Lisa Renee Jones has
set up next for Seth and Amanda.

Poison Kisses by Lisa Renee
Jones is Book Two in the 'Poison Kisses" series. This continues the story
of Amanda Skye and Seth Cage. This is seriously intense and suspenseful
read and we are only on part 2 in a 3 part series. This book does start right
where the last one left off. Amanda and Seth are still trying to deal with their
feelings of desire, attraction, betrayal, secrets, mistrust and lies. In this book we now know why Amanda disappeared
and are left with several more questions. Seth and Amanda are still
dealing with the betrayal from the past, the lust and love that is still
between them is steaming up pretty nicely. They went from lovers to
enemies to lovers, but what about the love? But before they can
get a handle on their pasts, they need to figure out how to take down Dr.
Franklin Ross.
As this story shows glimpses
into their past, Amanda and Seth truly loved each other and now in the present,
that loved hasn’t died even though that love is being tested. They are being
tested and are having to learn to trust each other all over, after what
happened 3 years before. There is this push
and pull between the two of them. They went from enemies to lovers. Could that
love be salvaged along with the trust? Well that is one of the big things
going on along with the chaos is still happening. I do want to say it was great to see old
characters interact with new characters in this series. It made my heart
flutter big time happily. But this story ended on a HUGE cliffhanger. I couldn’t
believe that happened. Now I Have to wait for book 3 to find out what happens.
I am hanging on dying to find out what happens.
