Thief is book 5 in the Boston Underworld series. This book is about Russian Nikolai who is Alexei's brother and a mafia princess Tanaka. Nikolai has been a character whose story I have been dying to read all about and I will say, I was not disappointed. It was everything and the rainbows. Nikolai is very much the alpha possessive male. The story is how Nikolai becomes Tanaka's keeper. His reasons for doing so were tied to sins she didn’t commit yet she is being made to pay for. Tanaka was a good girl, always trying to please everybody. She was obedient to her father and the perfect princess. She doesn't argue or rebel. She does what is asked and the only thing that she loves and that gives her peace is dancing. Dancing is her life. She knows that its only a matter of time before that is taken from her yet she continues to dance every second that she is able. As the story unfolds, you can see that Tanaka suffers from some form of emotional trauma. That is shown with her obsession with ballet . Yet that made me feel more for her with how much she loves dancing. Nikolai himself has many issues. He is Cruel yet caring; possessive and protective. He's ruthless and a monster but when he is with Tanaka, she is like his physical Xanax. She calms him and sooths the savage beast. These two are such beautiful broken souls and when they are together, they make perfect sense. Their love story isn’t easy and it isn’t all rainbows and roses. The push and pull between Nikolai and Tanaka may drive you crazy but it gives the readers a good picture of how strong and intense their romance is. This is one dark romance that my soul craved. It is gritty, raw, steamy, twisted, erotic. This story will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end, especially with the huge twist that happened. If you love dark romances, if you adore the emotional rollercoaster ride that those stories give and you crave that heat factor, then this is the story for you.
