My body heats at the words, at the remembered pleasure of Sutton’s mouth on my sex. Christopher looks down at me, as if he can feel the heat emanating from between my legs. His expression turns stark, as if he’s in pain. That’s only fair, because I’m in pain too.
“You deserve better than that,” Christopher says, but there’s no way to pretend he’s talking about Sutton. He’s talking about himself and we both know it.
“He gives me what I want, which is something you might try next time you like a girl.”
“It wasn’t that,” he says, harsh again.
“No?” I step forward and place a hand on his chest, feeling the way his heart beats strong and fast. He may want to be unaffected by me, but he isn’t. I tilt my face up toward him.“You didn’t imagine me naked in the cabin later?”
He sucks in a breath.“You were too young then.”
My words come out as a whisper.“What about now? Will you do what Sutton said—imagine me in this dress when you go home after this?”
“It’s not fucking decent,” he says, even though the silk covers every part of me. It’s a perfectly respectable dress, when it’s not hitched up around my waist.
“You can thank Sutton for this,” I say, because it’s true. He’s the only reason I lean forward and place my lips against Christopher’s, touching them in some terrible attempt to show him what he gave up, to prove to myself that I don’t care about either of them.
Christopher sucks in a breath. For a second I think he’s going to pull away. He stiffens and grasps my hair with his fist. Easy enough for him to stop the kiss. Instead he dips my head back and deepens it, exploring my mouth with his teeth, his tongue. Opening me wider until I whimper. Pulling me close until I can feel how hard he is beneath his slacks.
His other hand fists in the gauze of my dress, and I realize he’s holding me with both hands clenched—one in my hair and one in my clothes. I don’t know whether he’s doing it so he doesn’t have to touch me or because it’s a way to control me without bruising me. He uses both hands to tug me closer; I’m pressed so tightly I can’t imagine getting away.
Where Sutton had been raw sensuality and playfulness, Christopher is pure determination. He kisses me like he’s a conquering army, like I’m made of gold he has to grasp—or lose forever.

Skye Warren this is the story of Christopher, Sutton and Harper. Harper's
father has a habit of marrying and then getting divorced- the latest marriage
has a new wife who has a son named Christopher. Harper and Christopher
have this instant spark between them. They
have a spark but also there is a dislike between them. Harper attempts
to keep things between them cool because things never last long when it comes
to her father’s marriages but tragically the unthinkable happens- her father
dies. Now Harper is lost in a sea of emotions and doesn’t know where she
belongs and what to do. Christopher sees her as a spoiled rich little
girl which really isn’t true but in his eyes that may look the case. Harper has
such a sweet and huge heart. She is kind and she is so amazing. Harper and
Christopher have a short and intense background which relates to an incident on
her father’s boat. That’s all I’m going to say…She was 15 at the time. Now 4
years have passed and Harper is 24 yrs old. Four years have passed since
Harper’s father died, and made Christopher the executor of her vast trust fund.
Her mother is now in remission from cancer and Harper needs some of her money
to help her mother acquire a new medicine that's under trial. She is
hoping to get Christopher on her side to help her out and sign some of her
funds over to her but he immediately refuses to do so. She storms down to his
office and goes in to see him where she runs into his business partner
Sutton. OMG Sutton..he is such a dirty
boy. Not an uptight man. Oh the mouth on
Sutton and he wants Harper. Wants to do dirty dirty things to her. Christopher
keeps his feeling close to his chest about what he thinks , especially
when it comes to Harper. Sutton is a master manipulator and goes and hires
Harper re: Historical Society of Tanglewood but don’t rule
Christopher out just yet. He is just waiting to make his moves. You don’t see
much of Christopher in this book but what you did see of him =wow, the fans had
to be used to cool me off. Sutton and Harper were extremely hot and intense in
this book. I could just feel how confused Harper was, for she has always had
strong feelings for Christopher, dare I call it love? I have to admit, I am torn as to what team I
am on- #TEAMCHRISTOPHER or #TEAMSUTTON. I loved both men yet they both have
flaws and both have awesome qualities. Its going to be hot to see who
ultimately wins Harper’s hand in the followup. This book is steamy, erotic,
dramatic, angsty, and action packed. This book has many twists and turns and
ends on a cliffhanger. I am dying to find out what happens in the upcoming book
2.
