She's out of her rut, out of her sweatpants, and out on the town.
Claire Parelli has been liberated!
Back to living it up in the Big Apple with her best friends, Claire embarks upon her dream career during the day, and steams up her nights with Daniel Chase, a.k.a. Mr. Beautiful, Hollywood's hottest leading man. Life is simply perfect.
But for how long?
Claire knows all too well that fairy tales just don't exist, even if she does have Fairy Slutmothers on her side. Real-life comes with real problems that don't simply vanish with a quick flick of the wand. So this time around Claire discovers that it isn't just a matter of trust—it'll be a moment of truth.
Before we leave for my parents’ house in Dan’s rental car, a tumbleweed rolls by . . . actually, no, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one did. Seems rather fitting. Instead, Dan insists we stop at a flower stand a few blocks from my apartment. I can only hope my mother appreciates his thoughtfulness.
An hour or so later, Dan and I pull up to my parents’ lovely home—a large, white colonial style house, on a quiet street in a quiet New England town. For many, this would be a dream home, and it was that for me as a child . . . until I realized I was attached by strings—long, intrusive strings that have been painful to cut.
“Everyone’s already here,” I say, groaning on the inside at the sight of my brothers’ cars as we get out of the car.
Dan grabs my hand and kisses it. “Deep breath.” He breathes with me. “It’s going to be fine.”
I grimace. “Hope so.” We walk to the door. I’m holding the birthday gift for my niece, and Dan’s got the stunning bouquet of pink and purple flowers he bought. I’m just about to turn the knob when the door swings open.
“Hi, Claire! Happy birthday!” Lindsay says, looking right past me at Dan. Lindsay, my tall, dark-haired, brown-eyed, sister-in-law holds her hand out to Dan. Her eyes widen measurably. “Oh my God, you’re Daniel Chase.” She pauses and blinks. “Um, I’m Lindsay, Claire’s sister-in-law. Your mom said ‘Dan’ was coming, but did not clarify that with ‘Daniel Chase.’ Oh Jesus.”
Ruby's thoughts are everywhere. To harness the madness, she gave her loudest characters a playground to frolic in. Q.T. Ruby invites you to come play too!

My Review:
What a fantastic follow up to Clare and Dan's story from A Matter of Trust. This is book 2 and we get the continuation of their relationship in book 2. We see Claire’s career taking off as a musician and Dan’s career continuing to skyrocket. These two are trying to navigate their way thru a long distance relationship and all seem to be going well but each time Dan has to go away and on location while Claire stays back waiting for him ( there is a reason why and the book addresses this) , this starts to take a toll on Claire and she starts to have those insecurities and trust issues flare up, then on top of things, she is dealing with her mom and her insanity- her nasty putdowns and veiled innuendos which made me just want to smack Claire’s mom- which is also adding to her tension and insecurities in her relationship with Dan. Then on top of it, there are people outside of her and Dan’s relationship who are determined to cause this great couple to break up.
This story is shows a relationship where the heroine isn’t as strong and I like that. And I love the supporting cast of characters who are there, helping Claire along, giving her the tools to work things out and giving her the help and love she needs . There is a reason for why Claire has these insecurities (read book1) but despite the insecurities , she gets better and comes to see that she is helping to cause dissent in hers and Dan relationship. Claire is one humorous gal and she had some awesome quips. And my boy Dan, what can I say for “Mr Beautiful” ? He is so sweet yet very devoted toward Claire. He loves her and wants to do everything he can to prove his love for her day in and day out. He is one totally hot book boyfriend and a definitely keeper!
This author has written a lovely love story about how real relationships can be, with doubt, insecurities and she wrote how love can overcome all. The plot is strong and flows from start to finish. And the ending is so sweet. I would have loved to read more about Dan and Claire and maybe someday we will. I hated for their story to end, for their HEA is totally perfect.
My rating: 4.7 stars ****
