Where We Began is book one in Nora Flite’s Where We Began duet. Wow, where do I start? The story sucked me in right from the very beginning and I did not want to put the story down. Laiken and Dominic, are the main characters and their meeting is under less than ideal circumstances. Laiken is taken from her sparse cabin family life to live with Dominic's very wealthy family in MA. Why did this happen? Slowly the picture is shown to the readers in the story. All of it had to do with her father and what he did is why she is taken and Laiken did nothing but is seemingly punished for his sins. Dominic may be the son of her captors but he's not like them. He's there and he gets his way under her skin and then up and leaves. But its his return years later has the huge impact. Dominic is very powerful and seduces Laiken under his spell. Thing is Dominic has secrets, oh so many secrets. The story has this push/pull from the very beginning. There is this huge question that dominates from the very beginning -- what deceitful deed has occurred that allows a child to be used as a pawn. There is a lot going on here in book 1 and trust me, there are some sick villians in this story that has allowed Laiken to be used as a pawn and to be kept away. The story ends on a cliffhanger and I am dying to read book 2 to finds out what ends up happening. This story is rife with intrigue, suspense, danger, angst, fear, pain, and hope. To be honest, I'm ready to learn Laiken's fate and redemption...or to be honest, her revenge!!!
