Transcend is book 1 in the Transcend Duet by Jewel E. Ann. This is an unique and intriguing read. We first meet eleven year old Swayze who knows stuff that is unexplainable and has this wise beyond her years mentality. She knows things that baffle others- like recollections of historical events, random things that happened way before her time, most specifically in the Wisconsin area. She has seen every psychologist and child developmental experts her parents have taken to and has been evaluated and every test has been run many times to try and get to the bottom of her so called issues. Fast forward to Swayze Samuels at age 21 and she is out of college doing the few graphic design job and is now about to take on a summer job as a nanny to a one month year old baby whose mom has passed away during childbirth leaving the father Professor Nathaniel Hunt to raise all by himself.
Professor Nathaniel Hunt is recently widowed and raising his daughter, Morgan, alone. He finds himself overloaded with grief and pain. He is trying to rise above that grief and pain and tread above water to where life can get back to some sort of normalcy but really, how can it without his beloved wife? Nate feels that everyone he has ever loved has left him in life. His story is very sad yet when Swayze enters his life, his life has color again. Griffin is Swayze’s sexy as sin boyfriend. He is 23 and he takes really good care of his body. He is a Harley Davidson technician and also rides one as well. He is all about his family and this man is very loyal, sweet and super loving. I can say I wish I had a boyfriend like him when I was 23. He is deeply in love with Swayze.
Yet from the moment Nate and Swayze meet, she finds she knows so much about him. But how can that be when she is 15 years younger than him. Swayze finds the more she knows the more she becomes freaked out. Nate , at first, was confused as she was and thought she could be crazy but now has made his own mind about what is going on. Griffin is feeling the strain and it is affecting his and Swazye’s relationship. As the story ended on a cliffhanger, we definitely get more than a huge clue as to what could be a huge breakthrough but will this end a relationship or open up a whole new one.
This was a brilliant and unique story by Jewel E. Ann who took us on a emotional rollercoaster of a ride. My emotions were all over the place. We didn’t just get one story, we got three- Swayze's, Nate's, & Griffin's. It is a story of what if’s, true love, fate and perhaps reincarnation. It all depends on how you read this story and your thoughts. I know what I think but book 2 is what I am desperately waiting on to see if I am correct. This was one emotional rollercoaster ride, one I would gladly go on again. Just don’t ask me to pick a side. I loved both men and would love if both of them could get the girl…that is how fantastic the writing is-I root for both men, they are both hot and steamy. I think this may be one of my most favorite books of 2018 so far!!
