You know the story. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, two kids, white picket fence. This isn’t that story.
This is more like . . . Man meets woman. Man sleeps with woman. Man meets another woman, sleeps with her. And so on. You get the idea.
I own a small boutique hotel in New Orleans, the Kingston. I’ve seen men do some stupid stuff in the name of the woman they love, or at least the woman they love for the night.
That’s not me. I’m always in control. You’d be surprised how much you can get away with on just good manners and a smile. It’s the only way to keep my secrets safely locked away.
And my smile hides a lot. Until her.
She turns me down flat. Playing hard to get is my favorite game. It’s the thrill of the chase.
Only problem is, I think it’s me that’s getting caught.

Excerpt:
Dr. Lorraine laughs and pulls out her prescription pad. Scribbling something, she turns it to me. The title reads: The sex diet. I bust out laughing. “You’re writing me a sex prescription.” “Sort of,” she says. “You ever gone on a diet before?” “No.” “The thing with diets is, you usually start off strict.” "How did I know that?” “No touching by either party, not even kissing.” "Wait, not even a hand job?” I ask. “You’ve got your own hands. Use them.” She writes jerking off on her script pad, then puts a checkmark beside it. This is the craziest shit. “Once a day as needed,” she says, writing that down. “I’ll never make it.” “How many times do you want?” she asks. “At least twice, morning and before bed.” She shakes her head. “Okay, twice a day,” she says and points her pencil at me. “That’s it.” “I really don’t think I need . . .” “You won’t be released from therapy until I’m satisfied you’ve completed this,” she says. She has me by the balls, and she knows it. I can’t believe I’m being forced to agree to this, but what choice do I have? “I haven’t had sex in a couple days. Can I get credit for that?” “No,” she laughs out. “Start fresh today.” “Porn?” “What about it?” “Can I use it?” I ask. “You don’t have enough memories to sustain you?” she asks. “Good point.” She gets to her feet and sticks out her hand. “Good luck.” Shaking her hand and smiling, I’m sure I’ve got this. I bite the inside of my mouth, realizing the old lady has tricked me. It’s Thursday. I’m not seeing her again until Tuesday. That’s five days! Shit, what have I done? Blog Tour (12)

***** MY REVIEW ****

“THE FALL” Is a full length standalone romance novel by author Prescott Lane. It is told in Pierce’s POV. In this book,we meet thirty year old Pierce Kingston owner of a small lucrative boutique hotel in New Orleans, called the Kingston. He’s been ordained by the courts to attend therapy against his will. Pierce tells us his story of how he ended up in a court ordered therapy session as a part of a penance for being involved in an "alleged prostitution case" charges. As the story progresses, Pierce tells his therapist how the terrible misunderstanding happened then from that we get his current sexual relations aka random one night stands and open relationships which are based on mutual sexual satisfaction. We learn that Pierce gives his money to the relationships but not himself emotionally. As the story progresses, his therapist slowly leads Pierce to face what is causing him to do the unemotional hookups and she is patient with him. We find there is a common link to his past and that is his one and only female friend Annie and his little stepsister Tawny. While all this is going on he is trying to handle all the emotions and memories that the therapy is bringing up. The reader also finds there is one woman who has resisted Pierce and his sexual come-ons and that is Sutton Presley. Pierce knows Sutton is the one woman who is most likely the one for him but while knowing this and wanting this is two different things for Pierce. Oh he wants to just sleep with her but something prevents him from doing this and it’s a doozy. Pierce is severely frustrated and at times fails but he gets right back up and continues to try to knock down what is truly preventing him from being happy but will he be able to do it? What is causing him all this anguish? Is Sutton the woman for him? What secrets are in his past that is tearing him apart? Oh lordy lawd, there is so much emotional heartbreak in this story and my heart hurt for Pierce and also for Annie. I kind of wish Annie could have gotten a story but understand why she didn’t and why things happened the way it did. Pierce and Sutton really worked and for a time wondered it things would work out well for them. The story was a bit slow in places but about 60% into this book and things kicked up several notches. As for the epilogue, there really wasn’t one. I didn’t get to see how he was doing in the future and how life was treating him and his half sister and how his relationship was with Sutton . I wish there had been an epilogue where there was a true sense of closure. Overall, this is one great story and I really enjoyed how Prescott Lane took us on a momentous journey that deals with secrets, lies, abuse, love and discovery. I would have gotten a bit higher on my review but with not so much resolution to this story(see epilogue) that is why it is rated at 4.5**. I still find this to be a captivating read and look forward to reading more from Ms. Lane.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
