SUBJECT: ENGAGEMENT CONTRACT (Marked Confidential)
FROM THE DESK OF
HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE CHRISTOPHER
Emily—Thank you for
joining me for dinner tonight. And for agreeing to my proposal, as ludicrous as
it is. Desperate times call for fake engagements. At least in my family.
I am attaching the
contract we discussed. Our lawyers asked that I highlight the following
clauses:
- The engagement shall last ninety days
- Both parties are to appear genuinely in love at all royal appearances
- Beyond required public displays of affection, there shall be no contact of any kind between the parties
The first half of
your payment will be deposited into your account upon the signing of this
contract. Be sure to note your ring size. We would like to make prompt delivery
of the family emerald. The Queen and I thank you in advance for your
discretion.
Cheers,
Kit
P.S.—Sorry to hear
about your divorce. Your ex sounds like a proper knob head.
P.P.S.—You looked
stunning tonight.

Author Bio
Jessica Peterson began reading romance to escape the
decidedly unromantic awkwardness of her teenage years. Having found solace in
the likes of Mr. Darcy, Jamie Fraser (OMG love the gingers!), and Edward
Cullen, it wasn’t long before she began creating tall, dark and handsome heroes
of her own.
She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, Mr.
Peterson, and her smelly Goldendoodle Martha Bean. She is the author of the
super sexy STUDY ABROAD and FLINGS WITH KINGS series. Check her out at www.jessicapeterson.com

*****MY REVIEW ****
I love books that have a
royal theme to them and I love books that have 2nd chance romance to
them and this book has both of my likes in them so I was super excited to read
Jessica Peterson’s newest book “Royal Ruin: A Second Chance Royal
Romance”. The first book in A Flings With Kings series centers on a fake relationship - second chance romance
between Prince Kit Thorne and Emily Kilpatrick. These two had met
years before when Prince Kit was TA to Emily in college and they had a very
brief relationship before things ended abruptly. Prince Kit really cared
deeply, dare I say , was in love with Emily back in college and she had found
out her scum of a fiancée back home had been cheating on her. She ends up
having this “moment” with Kit and then the maybe ex fiancée comes calling on
the phone, Emily takes the call and that ends the moment between Kit and her.
He himself gets bad news and leaves college. Fast forward 10 years later and
she is divorced from the fiancée she ended up marrying after he had cheated his
way thru the marriage. Now she is trying to recover from the devastation of her
marriage and get back on track with her life. I felt like Emily made a bad
choice years before and she paid really bad for that mistake ten fold. She is a
kind woman, looks for the good in everyone and is a people person. Oh and lets
talk about sexy Kit. He's a great guy
and I really like his personality. He is quite royal and loves his family.
Now the reason marriage is
proposed is because of possible scandal that is engulfing the family because of
Kit’s sister and her divorce. So a pretend marriage is brought up because it is
thought to be the thing to bring the royal family up in ratings. Kit liked it because
he still had feelings for Emily and Emily , well, she still had feelings for
Kit plus Kit sweetened the pot to get her to agree. The romance between these two was great at
times but then there were some low points- like when Kit lost it and went completely
mental when she was running late and had to forgo a dinner because of a problem
with her job and had to stay. He was so nasty and said terrible things. He
threw out ultimatums and when Emily chose her job , he cut her off. It was like she had to be a wife and couldn’t
have a job. They went 6 months with no speaking to one another while he was out
drinking and doing whatever. That sort of soured me a bit on the story. It
started off with great promise but sort of lost its way. The ending seemed a bit rushed but I still liked
the ending. I still would read the next book in this series because I definitely
see promise in this new series. For all the ups and downs in this book, this is
still a good royal read and I liked the promise this book showed.
