This author is semi new to me
and this is a new series to me but I have to say, WOW I loved this book and I
very much am in love with this series. All the main characters come across as
people you feel like you know and places you want to live or have lived. This was a beautiful story of overcoming
obstacles, of devastation and of finding love out of the ruins and the journey
that the characters take, both physical and emotional and the results after
that journey…and the strength. I could go on but this is a book that one has to
experience by reading.
As the title suggests, this
is Anthony “Ace” Bailey’s Story. He is a police officer and a member of
the Moonshine Taskforce. Ace comes off as this carefree, sexy,
tough man who does what he wants when he wants. Thing is, Ace longs to find his
soul mate likes his team mates and friends. He longs to settle down and start a
family but he hasn’t found HER yet…or has he? Ace thinks he has in Violet, a
waitress in the diner the gang hangs out in. Violet is married but
her married life isn’t one of rainbow and unicorns. She is in an abusive
relationship but she wont go against her marriage vows even though there is
serious chemistry with Ace.
At the end of Book 3 ,
we saw how badly Violet’s husband hurt her and abused her. Ace and the other’s
saved Violet and prevented him from hurting her any further and he was arrested
and Violet is taken to the hospital. This book picks up from
where those events left off. Violet is left reeling from those events and she
is trying to get her life back together. Ace is there, showing that he
is the one constant in her life. Ace is there as her friend and wants it known
he would like to be more to her, would like to be her man, her mate.
The emotional journey this
story takes is one that will have you reaching for the tissues; it’s also one
that will have you rooting for Violet and Ace, that they get their HEA. Their
romance starts off slow and I so very much loved how the author wrote Ace and
his determination to give her strength in his arms, and he let her soar. Ace
was such a sweetheart. It was also great to see the previous couples from the
MTF series in this story. It
was wonderful to see them show up and make some brief appearances. I cannot want for the next book in this series
to come out next.
