This is book 6 in the House
of Payne series , MAX. Paradise Simone (Pari) came to Chicago to escape her
painful and tragic past but never thinking her painful loss would lead her to
find love. Max Kulagin is a sexy and highly temperamental Russian
tattoo artist who works for House of Payne tattoo shop. He has been
fascinated with the waitress at the Mad Cow, the diner across the street, since
he first saw her. When Max saw Pari for the first time, he knew he
found his forever mate but knew he would have to take his time because of the
pain in her eyes. Max himself didn’t have an easy childhood in Russia, but he
made his way to the states and made his mark with his tattoos. He
feels at home at Payne. Max takes his time wooing his soulmate
because he sees the damage of the past left in her and he wants her to trust
him. When Pari’s past comes back to haunt her, Max steps in
to make sure she knows he will always be there for her, no matter what. Is she
willing to let him in, to take that chance?
I love how easy these two are
together, like they come together like breathing but being honest, it wasn't.
Max had to prove himself, he did more for Pari than any other woman and I liked
that he had to work for his woman while Pari spent that month secretly falling
for him too and secretly keeping the tokens he left for her. The passion
and angst in this story was great. I loved how the author built up the
backstory on Pari as to show why there was the struggle and the reward that
came. It really made this so much more special for Max and Pari.. Max and Pari
are total opposites which make them so very workable. Max is a dirty mouthed
artist who says anything- like no filter and it makes him so sexy . I can
image him saying it with a twinkle in his eyes while Pari is his total
opposite. She doesn’t curse, is proper and is a sassy woman. She is locked up
tight due to her past but opposites make the best relationships. I found this
to be another fantastic installment in the House of Payne series and a must
read!!!
