My Review:
One is a beautiful and emotional love story that is
about 2nd chances with your true love when you think love has “leave
the building”. One is a
spinoff/standalone to the Jack & Jill Series. Its hard to go into
this without giving a lot of the previous series away (spoilers!) But what I
can say is that this is Lake and Cage’s story.
Lake Jones is
a sassy and independent cuss of a female who is living with a below-the-knee amputation. She always now tries to find the
rainbow in her day since her life hasn’t been the brightest of recent. She has
a habit of peeping in on her neighbors and adores Netflix. She is a
cover model and test subject for new high-tech prosthetics . She tries to live
her life to the fullest .
Cage Monaghan is a famous
rookie NFL quarterback who has
women coming out of the woodwork and doesn’t need any entanglements until he
comes face to face with someone from his past. Lake and he had a brief moment
in time , a hot moment and that was it until they reconnected at a teammate’s
party and BOOM, they are back in each other’s life, good or bad, as it may be. He's
got his second chance and he's going to take it before she disappears out of
his life again.
This story will make you
laugh, make you cry, make you think—Lake is a survivor and she is
someone I rooted for in this story to find her HEA. I found Cage to be perfect
for her, he was someone who could get her, see her and understand her. Not to
say that they didn’t have their ups and downs but they got each other. Fans of
the amazing Jack & Jill trilogy will
love the appearance of past characters but do know One is a standalone spinoff and maybe we
will see supporting characters in this book get their own in follow ups- that
would be lovely.
