*************MY REVIEW***************

This is one of my favorite books in the Checkmate Duet series. It is book one and it is “This is Dangerous”, featuring the much anticipated book that is Logan and Kayla’s story. Kennedy Fox is one of these writers that can write anything and she will make you become completely addicted to her writing because it is that awesome! Her characters will for sure entertain you, like Kayla and Logan with their intense chemistry and they also connected on a level as friends. I love how Kennedy Fox writes Friends to Lovers story. Friends to lovers is my FAVE trope and when it is done right, as this has been done, oh get ready for some fireworks of the passionate kind. This is going to get awesome blossom!
 Logan has been the man in the previous books that has captured my interest. You know, with his moody, broken down , sad type personality and I knew he had a story to be told so when I heard that Ms. Fox had one and  This is Dangerous was his, I was super excited. This is Dangerous is probably the most angsty of Ms.  Fox’s books in this series yet it fits Logan and his personality. This goes with the friends to lovers theme that this story is based on. Kayla fits Logan so well. She is a trip, she is just a breathe of fresh air- she is sassy , spicy, sexy, really funny, and super intelligent. She can definitely stand up to Logan. Their connection is immediate and I have to say Kayla is so gosh darn adorable, I love her. There is parts to her that are vulnerable and it just made me love her more. She is so right for Logan, I was ready for them to be together immediately but knowing how Ms. Fox works, I knew their love story would be worth the wait and OMG it so is.
There was a mystery if you were following along which was left off at the end of the last book, Checkmate: This is Effortless.  Kayla had been trying to figure Logan out more and why he had backed away from her and that is where the mystery of Skylar came in. At the end of the last book, Kayla texted Courtney saying she had found out who Skylar was.  I wondered too but in this book we so found out who she was and then some.  Now Logan really finds himself attracted to Kayla but he refuses to act on that attraction and he has become so anti-Kayla and anti-relationship that is sad to read. But at the same time, there is  touches and the stolen kisses between them that are super intense when they happen to meet/get together. Oh the building of tension and hidden glances start building things to a feverish pitch. I want to say more but I don’t want to give things away. There is secrets and mystery and so much suspense that radiates from this book that make this book so intense and deep and full of angst. This book has so much going on-secrets, lies and painful truths. The author writes this story where there is beauty and there is pain, dark and light shining thru. This book will take you on a journey of feeling, of thought and your senses will go thru so much, at the end, you come out raw –But wait, this story ends on a cliffhanger and there is a book2 and what a cliffhanger it is. OMG It was one that I was yelling at my kindle. I cannot wait for book2 Checkmate: This is Beautiful to find out what happens to my favorite couple Kayla and Logan.
