My review:
Defenseless is
one of those stories that I wasn’t expecting to shock me but it defiantly did
and in the way it reached up and grabbed hold of me, it has surely stayed with
me for after reading the book.
The main
character, Mark Dixon, you will know from the other series’ -The Consolation
Duet and/or The Belonging Duet. This is his book and in
this book, Mark has met Charlie who is a former CIA agent. They met about a
year during Aaron’s rescue and Charlie was undercover trying to take down a
terrorist. Fast forward and it’s a year later, Aaron was rescued and Mark and
Charlie meet again. In this instance, Charlie offers to help Mark figure out who
is going after Cole Security. While Charlie is helping Mark, she is
also trying to determine what secrets got her father, the former
Director of the CIA’s, killed.
As they work together, the chemistry between Mark and Charlie
is electric. Mark feels their passion but Charlie fight against the feelings. I
love her fiery nature and her bit of feeling off balance when it comes to Mark.
Just as I adore Mark and his alpha nature and his possessive bit when it comes
to Charlie. Both were great at the tension provided and at leveling off a bit
when the humor.
There is things you will learn about Mark that will show he
is the ying to Charlie’s yang. There are thing about Mark that, at first you
think he is just a businessman but really he is so much more. I loved getting
to know more about him and Charlie, she made being his mate, his woman a great
experience. Their journey to each other and the sex scenes were so insanely
hot, I completely enjoyed it. I loved the action, suspense, adventure and the
romance of this book. The way the story wrapped up was so good, that I cannot
wait to see what the author has planned next.
