Wow! This story will grasp you and hold you until the very
end. The story can be confusing but wow is it deep and delicious and has some
rich sexual undertones. There are so many layers to be uncovered and each layer
uncovers something good.
The story starts when we see 4 caskets being buried. In the
background, hidden, we see 2 adults watching the funeral proceedings. We find
out the people being buried are Jessica
and Jude Day long with their parents. BUT the two adults watching the
proceedings are Jessica and Jude Day—WTH?? Why are they alive and their
parents dead. .that is part of the mystery but they are in the witness
protection program. Their father was a DEA agent so the 2 do know some
great self-defense techniques.
Jessica is devastated because
she has to leave behind the love of her life- Luke. He used to be her psychiatrist.
The reason she even had a psychologist is because of a horrible event when she
was younger. Due to that, she can’t stand for any male (except for Luke ) to
touch her or she will make them bleed badly.
So off she and her brother
Jude go to a new place with new names. The place they have been relocated to is
Omaha. And their names have been changed to Jillian and Jackson Knight.
The main news is that the community that they have been placed to live in has
more senior citizens living there than people their age. They end up getting
jobs –Jillian works at selling sex toys while at people’s homes, like she goes door
to door then she does odd jobs around the neighborhood and her brother Jackson works
as a piano teacher.
Jillian still is missing her lost love, Luke . He is her love
of her heart and she just keep dreaming of him. She doesn’t think he can be replaced.
One day she ends up meeting her and Jackson’s next door neighbor, AJ. He is
older than her. He is a 42 year old Air
Force Sergeant, who also suffers from PTSD. They happen to have some
chemistry but AJ fights it. This is where I am left baffled—I like AJ but I want
Luke to make an appearance because the flashbacks that Jillian/Jessica has,
there is more passion and chemistry with those flashbacks than with AJ and
Jillian. Jillian is a bit off her rocker yet I adore her. I feel so bad for her
and her brother. AJ tries really really hard to resist Jillian but he cant and
they start this “thing” and Jillian doesn’t know what to do—she really cares
for him but her heart is missing Luke.
Meanwhile Jackson is enthralled
by the housekeeper of the neighbor and
he wants her. Jackson works on making
himself a better person than he used to be. Watching this hunk reform and go
after this woman is awesome to see.
There are many twists and
turns in this story that make the reader stay glued and the story ends on a
HUGE CLIFFHANGER. What happens between Jillian and AJ? Will she ever get to see
Luke again? Will Jackson get his woman? Will the Knight twins ever be happy?
All I can say is this book is fantastic and will make you seek out book 2 for
answers. Love how the words flow together and the author makes her characters relatable—cannot
wait for book 2 & 3 in this series.
