What a great new series by Shiloh Walker. This is book one in
the McKays series and the MCs are Neve
McKay & Ian Campbell.
Neve McKay is coming
home after 10 long years away. Her story is told with suspenseful prose and
draws the reader in with intriguing bits shown. Her life hasn’t been roses and
rainbows. Her ex boyfriend, William, is after her and she is going home
to escape him . When she gets back into town, almost immediately her being
there starts up the rumors and innuendo.
About the same time she runs into Ian, local pub manager. He
happens to be friends with her brother but their chemistry is off the charts Neve
didn’t expect to find someone after all she went thru with her ex , but with
Ian, she feels strangely safe.
Now Neve’s relationship with
her siblings is not in the best shape since she hasn’t talked or seen them in
years and here she is back after the long absence. She is hoping , praying that
maybe with her coming back, they can work on their issues. (and no, I do not
want to give away the spoilers and say what the issues are) There are other
stories wove into this book than just Neve and Ian’s. This will be continued
into other books. We get to meet Neve’s brother and sister.
Back to Neve and Ian—their love story starts off as friend to
lovers. It is good to see them and their path to love. It wasn’t without the
minor and some major blow ups. Ian knows there is something going on in Neve’s
past and he wants to help her but without knowing what, he doesn’t know if they
will ever have a future. Their intimate
sexual scenes are so hot, that you will need a fan to cool you off. You can
tell that Ian and Neve belong together even though their relationship is
forbidden-she is his best friend’s little sister and she is trying to keep him
safe from her ex’s wrath in case he does find her.
The complex, thrilling, passionate story is wonderful for all
the layers built up. You will find yourself drawn in and will not be able to
let go until the very end. I truly enjoyed the twists and turns that came about.
I cannot wait for book 2 which is Brannon
and Hannah's story.
My rating: 4.8 stars *****
