ARC Review of Lost in Shadows by Anita DeVito

Lost in Shadows

Caroline Walker is a former Pulitzer-winning journalist for the Washington Post, she returned home to Kentucky to nurse her sick mother. Now that her mother has died, she has retreated into a shell and has become something of a recluse and doesn’t do much but handle research for others. Of late she has received crank calls like hang calls and someone who calls and just sits on her phone line then they hang up. Her complaint of  having a stalker is what turned her into a recluse. But her own uncle , the Sheriff sort of thinks she is making this up. He blows off the things she is saying about a stalker. It is only when her brother Nate really listens and gets the drift does things start going in the right direction. He calls in a favor and Jeb,  his friend and ex-Special Ops buddy comes into the story. He calls to him and asks him to check out what is going on. He goes and wow , the chemistry is explosive. But this is about where the story starts to fall a bit. The story started off great but then about here it fell. I had some high hopes but the story got really confusing. The ending sounds like it went well. But there were some ebbs and flow issues with this story line. Things needed to run smoother and make more sense. Other than that, Caroline and Jax. Were a great couple, just wish the storyline made more sense.,

My Rating:  3.5  stars *****
