My Review:
This is Beth and Luca’s
story- you first met them in Pretty When
You Cry. I would recommend reading that book first to help with this story
although this could be considered and read as a standalone. It does help to
have read PWYC.
Beth is on the run for
her and her little baby’s life. She is running from Luca because she is afraid of the desire he
invokes inside her; she is also on the run from her brother because she thinks and assumes he will
make her/take her back to the religious cult she was a prisoner to. So Beth just keeps running,
praying that God will help her and protect her and her little baby and keep
them safe. But the thing Beth didn’t take into account was Luca and his sheer
determination to find and take Beth and bring her back with him. He wants her
and nothing but her with do.
This was a dark and compelling novella that kept me on the edge of my
seat with so many facets that I wasn’t sure who or what was going to keep this
twisting or turning next. Luca was a wild card, I wasn’t sure what his goal was
. He was this sexy, mysterious, dominant man who was determined to make Beth
his no matter what. And Beth, she was this woman who has been thru so much and
all she wanted was peace to heal, and peace and happiness for her little one.
Could Luca be that person to give it to her, or was he the devil in disguise?
This novella was about to let it all out and answer those questions and by the
end, I was satisfied. I would have liked alittle more in the epilogue but
overall it was a satisfying read for me and as always, I adored Skye Warren’s
prose.
