I started off reading Ms.
Bliss’s Entangled books and loved her stories. I was excited to hear she had a
new book coming out set apart from the Entangled line . This book is just as
good, if not more.
Leah Martin has
struggled pretty much all her life with her weight and feeling as if she is
never good enough. Leah's mother has pushed her to diet, to fit this
mold society pushes to be thin, her ex-boyfriend signed her up to a gym
so when Leah meets Sam Cooper in a bar she thinks the reason he isn’t interested
in her is because of her size/weight. However Sam is dealing with her own life
issues and doesn’t want to get into a new relationship so he doesn’t show much
interest in Leah.
You would think that would be
it for Sam and Leah. Nope-- Leah and Sam find themselves together due to a couple of events
and Sam finds that he wants to help Leah out. He ends up pretending to be Leah’s
fake fiancée to help her out of a rough spot. At one point, he even helps her
deliver a wedding cake to her ex-boyfriend. There is more to Sam than meets the
eye but he could be so close mouthed and
non-communicative. Leah had such a hard time knowing where she stood with him
yet he was always there when she needed something. Here was this woman who had
everyone putting her down for how she looked and I guess in a way, she felt Sam
was too yet Sam was always there when she needed something and he was her “fiancée”
. Their relationship was fake yet the fake relationship soon developed into
more and that is where this got good, real good. I also enjoyed the secondary
characters in this story. Ms. Bliss wrote a believable story about a woman who
dealt with weight issues all her life and it took her finally realizing she was
beautiful to stop the haters hating. Sam was the real thing. He was harder to
read but the more I read about him, he was a good man, just conflicted and I
think Leah and Sam together worked. I would love to read more stories set in
this world.
My rating: 4.5 stars ****
