WARNING: Author believes in soul mates and insta-love, proceed with caution if you're not a romantic at heart.
Love's greatest cure is salvation of one’s soul.
Shane Sherman has a problem. Well, two, actually. One has auburn hair and pale-green eyes, and the other? . . . Is a secret. One he doesn't want to talk about. But all that changes when Sage comes to town.
Sage Sloan is being stalked. So she runs to Trails End and the bravest man her sister said she'd ever met. Sergeant Shane Sherman.
Sparks fly, tempers flare, and bears misbehave as Shane and Sage find a way to coexist in Trails End. That is, until a killer comes to call. Then all bets are off. Shane isn't about to lose his saving grace.
This is the third and final book in the Reason Series. I highly recommend you read books one and two before "A Reason To Live."
Rated R for sexual content and language and M for Maxine.

My Review:
OH MY! What a fantastic book that deals with PTSD in such a great way –it
deals with it realistically and with grace. Loved it!!
This is a book about a hero who comes back from the war and has a lot going
on-has PTSD, dealing with a loss of a fellow solider and the guilt from that
loss. We have a heroine who is dealing with the loss of a beloved one, and past physical abuse
and mental abuse on top of that and to add to that, she too has guilt. These
two are perfectly made for each other because of the pain they have lived thru
and the connection they share. They are the perfect foil for each other ,
strengths and weaknesses complement each other.
Shane was ending his
tour in the army in Afghanistan when a horrific bombing took place and
he loses people on his team, including a lovely young woman. Since he was the
team leader, he took the losses hard and believes he should have done something
more or different and they would all be going home. At this point in his life,
he is home but not truly “home” because he feels so guilty for what happened in
Afghanistan and the lost lives. This is a man tortured inside and
fighting to live with the memories. So he comes back to his hometown and helps
others to try and at least assure the guilt in him.
Sage is living in fear
and terror. She works for Child Protective Services and deals with children
who come from homes that aren’t good and backgrounds that they need protecting
from. Sage suspects that one of
her kid’s parents are highly po’d at her because she took their kid from them—Hey
I would have that done too if you did bad things- so because she did that, they
are after her now. She has received nasty grams of threats, horrible gifts for
over 6 months but nothing physical ---YET. The police can’t do anything and she’s
tired of living in fear so she turns to the man her sister admired and called
the “bravest man she knew”—Shane.
Shane and Sage at first didn’t get alone well but there is attraction there-potent
, heady attraction. Sage can look and see Shane lives with regret and guilt.
She wants to help him and when she gets so far, he smacks her away. Its like a
vicious cycle –Sage gets so far in because Shane lets her and then he backs off
and smacks her back—That kind of made me frustrated with him. I felt like he
should be willing to see the gift that was gifted to them both by Sage’s sister
albeit from beyond. Oh it ended up happening but it took awhile—I bet you
wondered how it happened—from some friends named Maxine & Mia. OMG you are gonna love Maxine. That chick is
funny and there are some scenes with her that you are going to flip out
laughing over. Jus Saying now—This book has some of the best scenes that had
humor written perfectly and also had passion, heat, suspense, action and
forgiveness. It had great flow that kept me, as a reader entertained. I had to
keep tissues on hand because I cried but I also laughed. What a great book that
you can do both.
Shane finds out what Sage is to him and what his reason is-what Sage is
FOR HIM—The message is beautiful and all the answers will be answered in this
book.
My rating: 4.8 stars *****
