About the Author

Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Aly Martinez is a stay-at-home mom to four crazy kids under the age of five, including a set of twins. Currently living in South Carolina, she passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a glass of wine at her side.

My Review:

This was such a gut retching novel that will pulse emotions from one end of the spectrum to the other. It deals with a physical disability and the death of someone. And the power of love. OMG this book had me glued until the very end. I had never read any of ON THE ROPES books; this was my first and I have to say, I loved it. As soon as I finished this book, I went and picked up the other two.

Quarry Page and Liv James have been friends since they were young. Quarry made himself her protector until he deliberately pushed Liv out of his life and away from their friendship. A choice that young Liv, who found herself heartbroken by. She has always been in love with Quarry but after what happened, she had to take steps back from him until a medical emergency sends her back to him and their friendship. By then, the boy she loved, the man she was in love with had moved on with his life and she was just the friend. My heart broke for her because it looks like he never saw her as anything but a pest , the best friend pest. Liv had to act like she is happy for him—Seasons change, heartbreak enters Quarry’s life but thru it all, Liv is there for him as “the BFF” until something changes it all and he sees her as a desirable woman.

Now the script has changed and Quarry has become the hunter and Liv is the hunted. Quarry realizes he has lost all this time when he could have been with someone he has loved for so long-Now he has to make Liv realize this but he has a battle ahead and it is a BATTLE. Remember how I said lost loves—well that is part of the battle, plus Liv is being stalked by an enemy of Quarry’s from the ring who is out for blood and sees Liv as a way to get back at him. Also there is a past from the mens’ past.

There is so much going on in this story that keeps the flow going and the story going. Thru it all, the passion is hot and the sex is terrific between the lovers in this book. I loved that this is a childhood romance which goes to lost loves to 2^nd chance romance. Oh I LOVED this book. And the ending really was great. I will now read this author from now on because of this book.
