My God, this is such a strong and emotional book, one that will have you thinking even after you are done reading. Lover is a steamy contemporary romance written by Marni Mann and Gia Riley. There are so many twists and turns in this story that you don’t know where to stop and take breaths. I was afraid if I did, I would interrupt my flow and I loved the pace and the flow of how I was reading. Lover (stand-alone) follows two couples as they decide to become swingers.
Marni Mann and Gia Riley delivered such a powerful and creative masterpiece with the complex characters, the complicated character relationships, intense sexual connections which are made even more complicated by blossoming feelings and stolen moments between both couples which are even then covered up by lies and secret. But how could something so wrong feel so right and just?
Former ice hockey pro West Holden and his wife have always been open sexually. For special needs teacher Piper Callahan and her husband swinging will be their last resort to try to spice up a dwindling sex life on its last legs. Both couples agree to the rules but soon West and Piper feel more, need more and they are breaking those rules. Piper and West have this great sexual chemistry together and even more this awesome emotional connection together whereas I didn’t see Piper and her husband have one. I felt Piper and her husband didn’t have any connection together. West and his wife were only together based on something that should have ended long ago but he felt responsibility to her and that they were good sexually together which is why they were still together.
This is a story that shows where love will bloom where you least expect it and Lover is a story of two individuals learning to adapt to change and to exploring their desires and sexualities without guilt. This is one hot, intense, passionate, erotic and kinky read and I definitely recommend this book. There are many twists and turns that will take this story into different directions but overall, this is one awesome read. Piper and West make one fantastic couple!!!
