This is the first book in
this new series by EL Todd , the “Ray series” and being this is book 1, so
far I am liking what I am reading. Rae is a woman
who seems to have it all- good life, a dog, great job, wonderful family,
fantastic friends. When the book starts, her brother Rex is currently living
with her while "he's between” at the moment or in other words means
he is broke which is how we meet the hero of the story Ryker. Ryker
is a guy both Rex and his best friend Zeke knew when they were
growing up/kids together until he moved away. He is now back in Seattle
and he is renewing old acquaintances. He
runs into Rae one morning and their lives will never be the same. There is this
instant chemistry, this heat between them yet they didn’t do anything when they
met. They let it go but when they meet back up, well sir, both of them feel the
heat and start wondering if they should act and fast on this hot and needy
chemistry between each other—well they do and guess where they go from there?
Spoilers! Trust me when I say it was HOT!!! Only thing is Ryker doesn’t want
anyone knowing he is crushing on Rae, his friend’s sister nor does he want
anyone knowing he really likes her. He wants to be on the “downlow” While Rae
would like their attraction and interactions to see the light of day and to not
be a “dirty secret”. Ryker doesn’t plan on them being anytime of permanent
thing while Rae thinks they will. Oh the lack of communication will cause A LOT
of trouble…There are many twists and turns to this hidden from sight
friendship/relationship on top of Ryker building up his business and also
renewing his friendships with his old buddies all while making his friendship
with Rae into something as well BUT There are secrets being held back between Ryker and Rae, feelings that lead to someone
getting unintentionally hurt.
This book ended on a cliffhanger so now I am on pins and needles waiting for
book 2. This is one story you do not want to miss because of all the complex
emotions and passions that spill out. It is one that will keep you entertained
and the characters will draw you into their world.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
