Willow Winters has this way of taking me thru these emotional spells, moments where I don’t know if I want to cry or hit the hero of her books, moments where I don’t know if I want to hug the heroine or shake her…this is another example and I love it. Scarred is a FEELS kind of book. Evan and Kat's story is her best yet! I felt like I knew the characters, like they were friends of mine or relatives and could relate. I truly think Ms. Winters is my dealer for she keeps me hooked in angst and passion. I can’t get enough; speaking of which, I am jonesing for Jake’s story.
This book picks up where we last left off in Damaged . The truth comes out finally because Evan was afraid he was going to lose Kat so he had to come clean. He had to confess what has been going on and that in itself was all angsty and heartbreaking. Kat was hurt because her husband hadn’t come clean and been honest – all of it adds up to this miscommunication, dishonesty, heartbreak, lies…
Evan and Kat’s marriage was falling apart but they still loved one another. Evan and Kat wanted to be together so much but they had this great big hurdle to get over—to get over the things that are unsaid, the lies spoken , and the people /enemies who have caused the biggest troubles to their marriage . Kat wants to just have peace and live in peace but realizes only way she can is to have her husband with her for she knows Evan isn’t the hardened criminal that he is being painted as. Evan went thru a devil of a time trying to figure out who tried to frame him at the same time trying to repair his marriage, hoping it wasn’t too late to win his Kat back.
Willow had me so on the edge of my seat, literally at the edge wondering who the villain(s) were, and what elaborate game was being played and why Evan was being framed. When reading this story, you think you have a handle on whats going on and how everything will play out BUT trust me, you don’t know anything and there are so many twists and turns going on. This author will take you on a mindbending journey , one that at the end, you will be like “What the holy just happened??” It is truly amazing and Ms. Winters is very talented to write a story of a couple whose marriage is in trouble and then also throw in the suspense, intrigue and all the added bonuses that come with. I adore Evan and Kat’s story == I thought Mason and Jules were the couple for me but now Evan and Kat are most definitely giving them a run for the money . The passion, angst, FEELS, intensity of their love along with miscommunication, lies, dishonesty, and heartbreak…oh my, my box of tissues got a run with their two parter serial. I cant say enough awesome things about Scarred. Now, now I wait for Jake’s story…that’s gonna be a killer!
My Rating: 4.9 stars *****
