Marie Harte has a delightful
holiday story to read, one that offers up a small town romance during the
holidays. What drew me in were the sexy, contemporary, fun, witty banter,
earnest, good humor, and small town romance of the main characters in this
story plus the great secondary characters.
Becka Bragg is the
woman you could find as your next door neighbor. She is down to earth, sweet, a single mother raising
her now 14-year-old son on her own. She's a young widow trying to it all
on her own while running her own business. She does get help from her
cousin Nora but she is basically
doing everything on her own. Because she is doing it all on her on, going from
sunup to sundown, she doesn’t have time for a personal life since she has her
son Simon and her business.
Mitch Flashman has left the
NFL having won two Super Bowls and has followed his brother's footsteps to a
small town in Oregon. His brother is the coach for the local high school football team so
Mitch steps up to help his brother Deacon with his football duties. Simon
happens to be one of the students on the team. This is how handsome Mitch and spunky Becka meet.
There are definite sparks
between Mitch and Becka. Becka is still reeling from a huge loss in her past
and then she has Mitch front and center in her life. The journey on their
romance wasn’t rainbows and unicorns. It was ups and downs. Mitch had to work
hard and prove he was serious, that he wanted to be with Becka while Becka was
showing she was with him not for his money but for him only. You are going to
be surprised on who makes the first move to get their romance truly going. They
make a great couple and they feel so real, like they are someone I know, like
people I hang out with. I love how Marie Harte writes her characters to feel
real and genuine. I loved the secondary characters --- Simon, Nora and Deacon0-
they enhanced this story and make it even more special.
This is a fantastic holiday
story and I hope to read more from Hope’s Turn Oregon. The people here are
pretty special. I voluntarily
reviewed this story that kept me very interested until the very end.
