Title: One Call Away
Author: Emily Goodwin
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tropes: Small Town Romance, Second Chances Standalone
Chase Henson doesn’t play by the rules. He doesn’t let himself get attached, doesn’t stay in one place long enough to call anywhere home. So when he returns to the small town of Summer Hill for the first time in years, the last thing he expects to find is a reason to stay.
Sierra Belmont is lost. After a sudden loss that left her heart broken in a million pieces, Sierra is just barely getting by. Burying herself in work at Summer Hill’s only bookstore, all she wants to do is make it through another day.
And then Chase comes in to buy a book. Rumors that he’s dangerous fly through the town, but Sierra isn’t afraid of him. He might be the last person she should be with, but he’s the only one who understands the depth of her pain. For the first time, Chase stands still, fighting the desperation to mend Sierra’s broken heart.
Always running, the past has never had a chance to catch up to Chase. But there’s a first time for everything.

**********MY REVIEW**********
One Call Away is
a deeply emotional, beautiful love story
that will have you needing tissues because this is one of those deep romance reads. The prologue will have you just bawling for
the heroine Sierra. The rawness of her pain had me going thru tissues
and I wondered would she ever find love again but that is where the hero comes
in.. Chase. He is that bright light in the darkness she is in. Their love story
will have you rooting for them all the way.
Chase has a painful past due
to how he was raised and has never stayed in one place but now he has moved to
where his half-brother lives and hopes this is a new beginning for him. He wasn’t
sure he was going to like it..until he sees/meets Sierra and feels the need to
settle down wherever she is. Something about this woman calls to his soul. She
attracts him, calls to him and draws him in. She is beautiful and haunting
which is driving him nuts in a good way.
Sierra is just
starting to come out of this year of grief. She has felt like she was being
drowned from within by the pain and grief.
Like she was so empty and very alone even though she really wasn’t. For
the longest she thought she was being sunk deep into pits of water of despair
and she didn’t know if she wanted to come out and she wanted to let herself
sink further but when she meets Chase, she sees the light and wants to not sink
any further and she does feel the need to climb out of that sinking despair.
All because she feels more alive that she has in the longest.
Chase and Sierra had this
slow build up of their relationship which I loved. Their witty banter and
sexual chemistry was fantastic as well as the humor. It was very well balanced
and not overdone. This story is told in
dual POV and I loved how we get such a well balanced view of how they each feel
and their past experiences are put in which is about their tragedies/traumas that have shaped them today. Chase knows
Sierra is it for him so he is so very patient and he shows Sierra that he is
the one for her while Sierra knows its time to move on but her heart is afraid.
I loved the plot and the love that came out in this book. I loved Sierra and her love for books and her
love for Chase even after all she has been thru. Emily Goodwin has a
gold hit on her hands with this emotional, heartwarming hit on her hands.
