“Why are you here alone, Rick Savage?”
He fixes me in a deep blue stare, and I swear I’m drifting in a sea of this man’s making. “To meet you. I just didn’t know it yet.”
The rain explodes around us again, an eternal roughening of the windows that only Texas does with such force. Thunder erupts with it, lightning in the distance, and I don’t know who moves first. Him or me. Suddenly though we’re in the middle of the seat and his fingers are tangling all rough and wonderfully in my hair, his mouth lowering to mine. “I’m going to kiss you now unless you object,” he says.
“Kiss me already, Savage.”
“Rick. Call me Rick.” And then his lips collide with my lips, his tongue a deep stroke of pure heat that has me moaning with the rush of sensation that assaults my body in the best of ways.
My arms slide around his muscular back, body pressing against his body, the hard lines of this incredible man absorbing more than the softer part of me. Savage Hunger by Lisa Renee Jones is book 1 in the Savage Trilogy series. This begins Candace Marks and Rick Savage's story.
Candace Marks and Rick Savage were in love. She had planned their lives out with stars in her eyes. Then he up and left her behind with just a note and a broken heart. Fast forward to now and Candace is engaged to a politician who has a nickname of "honest Gabe". Candace doesn't want to be engaged to this man but does it for her father.
A past nemesis from Rick's time in the military rears their ugly head which ends up making him return back home 8 years later....returning back home and facing the woman that he never stopped loving; the woman that he hurt 8 years before. The chemistry between Rick and Candace is still intense and electric. Candace hasn't forgotten the pain she went thru yet she still remembers the love she has for him.
Book 1 in this suspenseful, military, political, 2nd chance romance is phenomenal. There is so many twists and turns, layers woven into the story that it's amazing to dig in and see who is good and who is bad. Loved the complexity of the story; the plot is fantastic and the characters are perfect. The chemistry is sheer perfection. I can't wait for book 2 in this new trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones!
