This is book 4 in the series-- Lady Isabel (Bell) Beldon who is also known as The Virgin Widow,
does not want to remarry and has NO intention of remarrying. Since she is a
widow, she has access to her funds and does not have to deal with a husband to
go to and ask for funds. She has more independence in being a window than being
married. She married a man she didn’t love, for her family, for their security
and safety rather than for her own happiness and now she is at peace. Using her
funds, Lady Bell takes her own money to use to give his female relatives their dowries in order to aid them in
acquiring proper husbands. Lady
Bell has the assistance of Lord Quentin, who is a relative of her late
husband’s, someone she is attracted to and someone she would give her attention
to, if she would like to.
Lord Quentin has wanted Lady
Bell since the moment he met her 10 years ago but he belonged to his
late relative. Since her husband died,
he made sure to be in her life in any way he could so that he could be with her.
When Bel’s siblings’ are brought to her and made her wards , then he saw a way
to slowly introduce himself into her life and make a way into her life and
entice his way into her life. Then when Bel looks to be losing her siblings to Quentin’s
father, Lord Quentin tries anyway he can to win her hand in marriage by
coming between his father and Lady Bel the only way he knows how- by standing
in his way. The two unite to make sure they cannot take the children and the
money which is what is driving them-greed. And there is a deep passion and
chemistry between them that they are fighting that they also have to work out
and decide if that is worth fighting for or letting go. This is a great story
that is a long time coming for the lovers in this classic romance. I highly
recommend this story if you like the Regency-era romances with great
chemistry between the H/h then you have it here with the classic villains and
fantastic action scenes.
My rating: 4.4 stars *****
