My ARC Review of Hide Me by Lexi Scott

Hide Me is ok, could be better

I read this story and felt like there was so much more to it. It started off great. Whit Conrad ran away from home and the memories that were consuming her and making her feel like she was drowning due to her brother’s passing. She moved all the way out to sunny California, went to all the places he went that gave her peace and made her feel happier, alive again. She even went as far as getting a job at the place her brother received his first tattoo .
Deo Beckett is unemployed, happy to go thru life living with his grandfather, surfing and just coasting and drinking A LOT. He is happy to move thru life without doing more, even though he knows he needs to be doing more . He goes in to get a tattoo when he meets this sexy gal with a smart mouth and eyes that have seen so much pain.
They keep running into each other and they start hanging out and they more they hang out, the more he likes her but she was not interested in anything other in just being friends. Deo plans on changing her mind. Whit cant let her guard down because of the pain in her life. She cant let Deo in her life because if she were to lose him, she couldn’t live any further.
Deo realized that by being there for Whit, he found his meaning in life and his passion. By pushing himself into her life, he may have pushed her out of his life. Did he just push the one person he loved out of his life forever?

There are great elements that I liked about this book but it seemed that the book started off great, it seemed to stall halfway thru the book and by the ending it ended great. So I am torn—it was great up to 40% and then 40% to 80% it was so slow and just was hard to read and then from 80% to the ending was fantastic. SO I will give this the rating I will and say I understand how the heroine have the feelings she does and I do understand how the hero has the feelings he does and pushes the way he does. Tragedy makes people act in strange ways and you want to protect yourself in many ways so you do things to make sure you do not go thru that again. I had to have a box of tissues handy at times because I was crying. I did feel the emotions that the female MC felt so I want say the author was able to communicate that which was great but the slowness really got to me.

My rating: 3.0 stars***
